A small 2cm cetonid. Males and females identical apart from the usual ridge on the underside of the beetle exemplified by the males Beautiful deep browny red body with yellow dots on the surface, rear part of the elytra is a much deeper darker colour again with yellow dot patterning. Underside is a strong yellow predominantly with maroon blotches Both sexes are good fliers
